The annoying thing is that my current way of injecting only gives me 12 characters to work with, and the longest name is 15 characters long, so I can't inject those
I extracted the portrait of this guy but I'm having a minor palette problem

apparently the mapping between portraits and palettes is in... creatures.gda?!
I finally wrote the script to properly pair up palettes.
It mostly worked. Sonic and... Shade? I think? got mixed up, but I think that's an easily fixable bug involving double-extracting some characters.
Also I don't know why one of the characters is an outhouse. This game is weird
okay I fixed a bunch but hang on, I don't think these are my fault. I think these are unused portraits.
These are three groups: "Knuk", "Tdad", and "Tim". Each group has multiple expressions. But in each group, one or two of them is using the wrong palette... and if you look closer, is drawn differently!
So like for that last one, they've got "timcal", "timgen", and "timsca". "timgen" is the human-looking one in the middle. I think that's two other emotions that ended up going unused in the final game, so they never redrew them to the final art style.
Fixed it up. I now have all portraits
Found some placeholders. Some of these ended up in the final game (like Commander Syrax and General Raxos), but I think they renamed "Wasp Guy"
This is super interesting as someone who played this game in their childhood.
That being said, it broke my app a little and subsequently hurt my sides a lot.
